Outstanding Performances at POSA Pole Sport World Championships

December 2nd, 2024
The POSA federation's Pole Sport World Championships were held this past weekend in Cesenatico, Italy. Among our association's representatives, Iida Sulonen continued her previous success from the IPSF federation's World Championships in the fall by securing her second world championship title. In addition to Iida, our association was represented by Ella Anttila and Hilma Nurmi.
Iida entered the Junior B Competitive category (ages 15-17) finals on Friday from fourth place after Thursday's qualifiers. Despite the highly competitive field, she kept her composure and rose to the top spot as the last pole athlete of the competition. Her performance received the highest scores of the entire competition, and she also broke the Finnish record for under-18 categories with her score of 148.867.
In addition to Iida, our association was represented by Hilma Nurmi in the Junior B Amateurs category and Ella Anttila in the Junior A Competitive category. For both competitors, these were their first international competitions abroad, and they are very pleased with the experience gained from the event. Hilma narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a score of 116.633. Ella placed 25th in her category with a score of 107.300.
After returning home, Iida will prepare for the final challenge of the season, the POSA federation's Pole Art World Championships in Rome in December, while the other team athletes will already be looking towards the next season.
Iida's own thoughts after the competition:
"This season has been absolutely incredible. Thanks to my coaches, team, and everyone who has been part of this journey. I can't wait to see what the future and the last World Championships of the season in December will bring!"
All the association's representatives highlight Iida's amazing performance as the star moment of the competition, which speaks to the excellent team spirit and supportive culture within the team. The coaches who traveled with the team, Iiro Linden and Milka Rämö, are also very satisfied with the outcome of the competition and the journey for all the competitors.
